When we reach our 40s, 50s, and beyond, our relationship with exercise changes. It is rarely about chasing quick-fix diets or keeping up with high-intensity fitness trends. Instead, it becomes about staying active, protecting our longevity, and having the strength and vitality to enjoy life with those we care about most.
That was exactly what brought Emma to BCA Fitness.
As a Respiratory and CPAP Physiologist working in Cambridge, Emma understands health better than most. At mid-50s and a proud grandmother of eight, her reason for joining was simple: she wanted to be fitter and stronger for her grandchildren.
She was three years into her journey with us when the unexpected happened. Just six months after she first joined, Emma suffered a stroke.
Overcoming the Unexpected
A major health event like a stroke can cause anyone to question what their body is capable of doing safely. But as a medical professional, Emma knew that staying still wasn’t the answer. She needed movement, but she needed it delivered safely and with expert guidance.
That’s where our coaching team stepped in. Rather than stopping her fitness journey, we adapted her workouts to match what she could physically manage at each stage of her recovery.
Bit by bit, exercise by exercise, Emma rebuilt her physical power and her inner confidence with the help from the BCA Fitness personal trainers at our gym in Cambridge North Train Station.
