3 lessons I learned from doing my 1st run of 2025 around Cambridge.
1: Running is bloody hard! It is one of the easiest bits of exercise you can do, all you need is a decent pair of trainers, step out of your front door and away you go, however it is one of the most taxing activities you can do on the body.
2: Set a target. I had a target of 5K for my 1st run, I had a roadmap of where I was going to complete my 5K, actually completed 7K by mistake but I didn’t mind. The main thing is that I knew when I left my house I had a distant in mind.
3: Do a warm up and cool down. Stupidly I just ran once I had my trainers on (I should know better) which didn’t help with my hip/lower back issue. It made the run a lot harder. I made sure afterwards I had a good cool down of stretching and a nice long bath in Epsom Salts.
What have you been putting off till “Monday”?
Commit and get started, no matter if it is just exercising for 5-10 mins or even a long walk.
You will feel better for doing it. Trust me
